Why We Charge a Retainer
- A deposit traditionally implies a refundable pre‑payment for something that is returned once the service or item is complete. Legal guidance notes that a retainer, by contrast, is a fee paid in advance to hold a service and is typically non‑refundable. Using the word retainer helps make the non‑refundable nature of the payment clear.
- The purpose of the retainer is to secure your appointment and compensate for time reserved. Without a clear retainer policy, last‑minute cancellations can impact a small salon’s ability to serve clients.
Retainer Amount & Payment Deadline
- A non‑refundable retainer (usually 50 % of the estimated service cost) is required for all appointments. This fee holds your time slot and is credited toward your final balance on the day of service.
- The retainer must be paid within one hour of booking. Appointments without a retainer will be declined, and your slot may be offered to another client.
Accepted Payment Methods
- Cash App: send payment to $Lydia1437.
- Zelle: send payment only to lizzylocs03@gmail.com. Do not send Zelle payments to the business phone number; it cannot receive funds.
- Full balances are due at the end of your service. Major credit/debit cards and cash are accepted; personal checks are not.
Cancellation & Rescheduling
- Clients may cancel or reschedule with 24 hours’ notice. If at least 24 hours’ notice is given, your retainer can be transferred one time to a new date within 90 days.
- Cancellations or no‑shows with less than 24 hours’ notice result in forfeiture of the retainer. Rebooking will require a new retainer. This aligns with industry policies that make retainers non‑refundable when notice is insufficient.
- Clients arriving more than 15 minutes late without communication will be treated as a no‑show, and the appointment may be canceled.
Refunds & Adjustments
- All services are final. Because your specialist invests significant time and care, refunds are not provided. If an error occurs, reasonable adjustments will be made to ensure satisfaction.
- Style changes requested at your appointment may incur an additional fee.
Payment Security & Peace of Mind
- Deposits are processed through secure platforms. Your personal information and payment details are protected.
- For clarity, the industry standard is to charge a non‑refundable retainer of around 25 – 30 % of the service cost, though the percentage may vary. Clearly defining this in your policy helps avoid misunderstandings.
